Pokémon Survivor Burst Classic, Rush, Tower, Endless
Each mode has a job. Unlocks are per Pokémon. Version 4.5 puts the selector up front and adds Endless.
Pokémon Survivor Burst is one combat sandbox with four published modes: Classic, Rush, Tower, and Endless. They share movement, auto-attacks, Burst, and mid-run evolutions. They do not share difficulty curves, rewards, or leaderboard columns. Mixing them up is the fastest way to think you are “bad at the game” when you are actually practicing the wrong exam.
Version 4.5 completely reworked the game mode selection menu and made it available from the start of the game. You can see the list early. You still earn the harder modes per Pokémon. ClessioTV’s rule, restated when a player asked: Classic unlocks Rush for that Pokémon, and Rush unlocks Tower. It only applies to Pokémon that completed the corresponding mode themselves. 4.5 also added clearer explanations of those requirements in-game, so read the selector instead of guessing.
This is a single-player fangame. The online leaderboard compares finished runs. It is not a fifth mode and not a shared session.
Classic — learn the kit
Classic is the classroom. You survive escalating waves, pick level-up bonuses, trigger Burst, and (if the run allows) evolve. Play Classic until you can explain what your Pokémon’s auto-attacks do without opening Details every thirty seconds. The getting started guide assumes Classic for the first hour.
Classic is also the usual place to complete unlock challenges. Version 3.0’s run objective pop-ups are easier to respect when you are not also racing a 15-minute Rush clock. If a challenge names a hunter you just unlocked, take them through Classic before you care about Tower fragments.
Leaderboard culture currently treats Mudkip as a Classic specialist: Water Pulse, Damp Recovery, HP 112, Speed 2.32. That is useful if you want a reference score. It is not a rule that Classic “is Mudkip’s mode.” Other species still need Classic clears to open their own Rush slot. Filter the in-game board by Pokémon (W on desktop—see controls) so you compare like with like.
Version 2.5 and 3.0 both list Classic improvements. If your memory of Classic is the launch weekend, you are remembering an older curve.
Rush — the timed exam
Rush arrived in version 2.0 and was improved in 2.5. It is the compressed test: denser pressure, a published 15-minute slice that 3.0 had to fix by removing MissingNo. Do not enter Rush expecting glitch encounters. Do not treat a 15-minute timer as optional flavor text if that is the Rush format you queued.
Unlock Rush by clearing Classic with that same Pokémon. A Tower medal on Mudkip does not gift Rush to Pikachu. When the selector says a mode is closed, it is telling you about the species on the cursor, not about your account.
Rush is where you find out whether a Burst plan actually scales. Classic can forgive a greedy passive. Rush will not. Ban and reroll systems (added in 2.0) matter more when the level-up table is shorter. If you never used a ban in Classic, Rush is where you start.
Use Rush as a mode unlock key for Tower, and as a leaderboard lane if you like timed scores. After you finish, Sort the board on D and make sure Mode is actually Rush. Posting a Classic time into a Rush conversation wastes everyone’s evening.
Tower — fragments and a reworked climb
Tower arrived in version 3.0 with Tower-exclusive temporary bonuses and an additional Fragment for completing the mode. That fragment is why Tower is not just “Classic with extra stairs.” It feeds Kecleon’s permanent shop. If your Core tree is stalled, a Tower clear on a Pokémon you already trust is often worth more than another Classic high score.
Version 4.0 completely reworked Tower Mode difficulty and reworked the requirements to access Tower. Old “just survive Rush and it’s free” muscle memory may be wrong. Trust the 4.5 selector text. The chain is still Rush → Tower per species, but the access requirements were touched on purpose.
Tower-exclusive temporary bonuses mean some in-run gifts simply do not exist in Classic. Do not copy a Tower bonus screenshot into a Classic build guide and wonder why the node never appears. Play Tower when you want those bonuses and the extra fragment; play Classic when you want a cleaner challenge hunt.
Because Tower was rebalanced twice in public notes (3.0 add, 4.0 rework), treat community clips from early September 2026’s 3.0 week as history. Current difficulty is the 4.x climb.
Endless — 4.5’s long shop
Endless Mode is the version 4.5 headline. The dedicated Endless Mode guide is the shop-and-currency how-to. The patch added:
- Endless Mode itself
- a specialized shop exclusive to Endless
- a new currency exclusive to Endless
Those three bullets are the whole published economy. Endless currency does not buy Kecleon Core nodes. Kecleon fragments do not stock the Endless shop. If you cannot find an Endless item, you are in the wrong shop, not missing a hidden key.
Endless is for long-session scaling after you understand a Pokémon’s kit. It is a poor unlock farm because challenges and mode medals already have homes in Classic/Rush/Tower. It is a poor first contact with a new species. Take a fighter you have already cleared Classic with, ideally one whose Burst you can fire on purpose, then see how the exclusive shop changes the late curve.
Because Endless is new in 4.5, expect the roadmap and patch notes to move first. This page will not invent a minute mark where Endless “ends” or a price list for the exclusive shop.
How to pick a mode tonight
Choose the mode that matches the resource you want.
- Need a new roster slot? Classic, watch challenge pop-ups, keep the unlock checklist open.
- Need Rush or Tower on this species? Clear the previous mode with that Pokémon. No shortcuts, no account-wide medals.
- Need fragments / Shop Core progress? Tower on a Pokémon that already has access, then spend at Kecleon.
- Need to test a greedy synergy? Classic until it works, Rush until it still works, Endless only after both.
- Need a leaderboard number? Set Mode correctly, Filter to your Pokémon, then play that ruleset. The web board exists if you do not want to boot the game to spectate.
New Pokémon still start at Classic even if you personally have Endless on someone else. Version 4.0’s Generation 4 unlocks and 4.5’s regional forms do not inherit your Mudkip medals.
Mode select, languages, and patches
The 4.5 selector is the official explanation surface. If a friend is on 4.0, they have Classic/Rush/Tower and the 4.0 Tower access rules, but not Endless and not the reworked selector. If they are on 2.x, they may not have Tower at all. Confirm version before you give advice. The download page covers overwriting in place so you do not lose the player name attached to those medals.
In-game languages are English, German, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. Mode names should stay recognizable across those; if a translation of a requirement looks softer than the English selector, believe the stricter reading until a patch says otherwise.
Boss difficulty was rebalanced in 3.0. Temporary bonuses were added in 3.0 and again in 4.0. Active abilities were completely reworked in 4.5, which changes how every mode feels even when the mode name is unchanged. After a major patch, play one Classic throwaway run before you queue a Tower fragment hunt. The mode did not vanish; the Pokémon inside it might have a new active kit.
Play the mode that pays the currency you need, on the Pokémon that actually unlocked it. Everything else is a highlight clip from someone else’s save.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How do I unlock Rush and Tower?
Clear Classic to unlock Rush for that Pokémon, then clear Rush to unlock Tower for that same Pokémon. The 4.5 selector explains the requirement in-game. Details stay on this page and on unlock Pokémon.
Is Endless available from the start?
The mode list is visible from the start in 4.5, but Endless is a 4.5 addition with its own shop and currency. Play it on a Pokémon whose kit you already understand. Install 4.5 via the download guide if your build predates Endless.
Does the leaderboard count as multiplayer?
No. Runs are single-player. The board ranks finished scores in-game and on the web leaderboard.
Why was MissingNo. in Rush?
Version 3.0 removed MissingNo. from 15-minute Rush. Current Rush should not be farmed for that encounter. See patch notes.
What does Tower give that Classic does not?
Tower-exclusive temporary bonuses and an additional Fragment on completion, which feeds Kecleon upgrades. Version 4.0 also reworked Tower difficulty and access requirements.
Can I take a new unlock straight into Endless?
You can try if the selector allows it, but new species still need Classic practice and their own mode medals. Start with getting started and a starter you can finish.
