Pokémon Survivor Burst Starter Pokémon
Mudkip’s published card, the confirmation screen, and how to spend your first three Classic runs.
Your first Pokémon in Pokémon Survivor Burst is not a trivia question. It is the body you will steer through Classic Mode until the choose-a-Pokémon grid starts to open. ClessioTV’s fangame is a single-player bullet heaven: one fighter, auto-attacks, level-up offers, Burst, and a mid-run evolution if the attempt lives long enough. The published starter is Mudkip. This page is a deep dive on that mud fish, plus the confirmation screen every later pick still uses. It is not a fake 31-row starter table. Other species exist, but their numbers are not on an official screenshot this wiki can quote.
If you have not installed a build yet, start with the download guide and getting started. If you already boot to the title screen, read the card, confirm, and run. Controls live on the controls page. Roster unlocks after this first pick live on unlock challenges.
The confirmation screen
Before a run starts, the game shows a confirmation card. That card is the last moment you can still back out. On Mudkip it lists:
- Type: Water
- HP: 112
- Speed: 2.32
- Skill: Water Pulse
- Passive: Damp Recovery
Water Pulse creates bouncing water shots. Damp Recovery recovers 8% HP. Those two sentences are the whole early Mudkip thesis. Bouncing shots cover lanes you are not facing. Percent healing keeps a long Classic attempt from leaking to chip damage while you hunt fragments and challenge pop-ups. Speed 2.32 is the movement number on the card, not a hidden main-series stat spread. HP 112 is the opening pool, not the evolved form’s pool. When a later Pokémon shows a different HP or Speed, believe that card instead of copying Mudkip’s numbers onto it.
The confirmation screen is also where new players freeze. You do not need a perfect Ban plan on run one. You need to know what the skill does, whether the passive is sustain or damage, and whether you are entering Classic to learn the loop or to chase a leaderboard snapshot. Confirm Mudkip for the first job. Confirm someone else only after that species is actually unlocked on the grid.
Why Water Pulse and Damp Recovery click
Bullet heavens punish tunnel vision. A starter that only fires forward forces you to kite in a circle and pray the rear swarm is thin. Mudkip’s bouncing Water Pulse spends less of your attention on aiming and more of it on positioning, bonus choice, and Burst timing. Damp Recovery then pays you for living. Eight percent is not a panic button you tap; it is a passive drip that makes greedy pulls safer, which is exactly what score pushing wants.
That kit also explains the public Classic board. Top ranks are almost all Mudkip. Novoxy sits at level 331 with about 6.5 million points. Jordan is on 262. Those are community scores on the public board, not an official tier stamp from Nintendo or from ClessioTV. They still tell you something useful: if the question is “what survives long enough to print a huge Classic number right now?”, the answer in version 4.5 is the starter you already have. The tier list frames that as early-meta evidence. This page frames it as a reason not to reroll your first hour away from Mudkip.
Mudkip is not the only valid Pokémon in the game. It is the only starter whose full card this wiki can cite from an official screenshot. Play other unlocked species when you are hunting star pieces, regional forks, or mode unlocks. Come back to Mudkip when you want a clean Classic score or a low-friction farm for Kecleon fragments.
How to pick (and when to stop picking)
First boot: take Mudkip. Learn movement, auto-attack rhythm, Burst, and the difference between a good level-up bonus and a shiny distraction. The Burst guide is the mid-article companion for that first clear. Ban and Bonus Reroll exist from version 2.0, but you do not need a spreadsheet of bans to finish Classic once.
Second run: still Mudkip unless a challenge pop-up told you to finish an objective on a different unlocked species. Spend the run noticing star-piece markers on the choose grid after you die or clear. Those markers are roster progress, not combat power. Track them with the unlock checklist so you do not forget which challenge you almost finished.
Third run and after: split your time. Keep one Mudkip Classic route for fragments and Shop Core purchases in the Kecleon shop. Use other unlocked Pokémon for the unlock Pokémon chain. Mode unlocks are per species: Classic opens Rush for that Pokémon, Rush opens Tower. Endless in 4.5 has its own shop and currency. Do not expect a Mudkip Tower clear to open Tower on a freshly unlocked Sableye.
When regional evolutions enter the conversation — Gallade, Hisuian Typhlosion, Alolan Raichu — they are not starter choices. They are mid-run forks with specific requirements that the 4.5 notes mention without publishing a full step list. Point your curiosity at Discord and patch notes, not at a fan-made dawn-stone ritual this wiki cannot verify.
First three runs with Mudkip
Run one is a classroom. Move, don’t stand in overlapping enemy shots, pick bonuses that make Water Pulse denser or Damp Recovery more relevant, and fire Burst when a boss or dense pack would otherwise eat the HP pool. Run two is a scavenger hunt: watch for challenge pop-ups, note Star Pieces, and survive long enough to see an evolution breakpoint. Run three is an economy run: bank fragments, visit Kecleon’s Shop Core, and decide whether the next week is a score week (Mudkip Classic) or an unlock week (leave the mud fish in the box). That split is how a 31+ roster actually gets filled without pretending every species is a starter.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What are Mudkip’s starter stats?
From the official confirmation screenshot: Water type, 112 HP, 2.32 Speed, skill Water Pulse, passive Damp Recovery. Water Pulse creates bouncing water shots; Damp Recovery restores 8% HP.
Should I start with someone other than Mudkip?
Not on a new save. Other Pokémon unlock through in-run challenges. Mudkip is the published starter and the current Classic score specialist on the public leaderboard.
Does the confirmation screen appear for every Pokémon?
Yes. The starter card is the layout you will keep seeing: type, HP, Speed, skill, and passive. Read it even on species you already unlocked so you do not carry Mudkip’s numbers onto a different kit.
Why are Classic top ranks almost all Mudkip?
Bouncing Water Pulse coverage plus 8% Damp Recovery sustain lives long enough to print huge scores. Novoxy’s 331 / 6.5 million run and Jordan’s 262 are public-board snapshots, not an official ranking. Details sit on the tier list.
When should I stop playing Mudkip?
When you are farming star pieces or mode unlocks that require a different species. Keep Mudkip for Classic score pushing and comfortable fragment income, then swap using the Pokémon hub grid.
